March 12, 2016

I sit on the sand; a myriad of stars surround me.

The sea foam nips at my toes, while the wild wind whips across my chest.

I am bare before the booming shore,

And a storm looms upon the horizon.

As a soft drizzle begins to patter on my head,

My tears begin to fall with them.

With my surroundings unknown

And the stars my only savior,

I look to them and pray for protection.

As claps of thunder and strikes of lightning join me in my lament,

I become aware of the absence

Of love, life, feeling.

A numbness encompasses me as the next strike falls.

A new wind rages atop the restless sea.

I feel my body slowly slipping away,

Yet my mind stays standing on the shore.

I rest at last and let the storm rage on.

I join the mist and freely float along.

So with the wind, I live unfettered still.

I never feel the cold of winter's chill.
