If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

2 poems·Since January 2015

Poetry is a way to make the outside world almost seem romantic, and with the way poetry flows through the mouth of the reader, emotions can be understandable; relatable. So, here's my view of the world, through muted colors and varying distortions.

Flawlessly Flawed

January 2, 2015

Flaw-less: there is nothing in this world described as such.

And, while I like to look at myself as, well, perfect,

There are certain aspects of my life that even I just don't get.

No matter how many people try to fit in, perfection is something that can not be taught.

So, here is why I consider myself to be somewhat flawlessly flawed.

my sister's volleyball skills are superior to mine,

but that's okay.

Even though my plays don't enthuse the crowd,

I still end up leaving the game feeling proud.

And, my straight A's might not humor my peers,

but later on, I'll be able to think to myself,

'where has your brain been all these years?'

Every mother thinks of her child as being the best,

but when it comes to me being me, there is not even a contest.

Me, Myself, and I are the best team there could ever be.

I mean, why would I want someone else, when the person who has my back is me?

Why would I look in the mirror and wish to be someone I'm not,

when I can look in the mirror, smile, and say,

"Hey, I'm just flawlessly flawed."
