If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

2 poems·Since January 2015

Poetry is a way to make the outside world almost seem romantic, and with the way poetry flows through the mouth of the reader, emotions can be understandable; relatable. So, here's my view of the world, through muted colors and varying distortions.

The Real Wallflower

January 4, 2015

Remember those magical moments where you felt on top of the world?

Your stars became alligned with those around you,

and for once you had the same heartbeat as everyone else.

All those cheezy smiles directed toward you,

and you couldn't help smiling back.

But...

Those smiles weren't directed at you.

Remember that guy behind you?

Yeah...

You remember him too.

Remember walking aimlessly through, well, all those places?

Never really knowing where you were going?

The empty expressions glancing at you like you were the wall?

You are the wall.

But, the wall can be cool...

"I'm cool," you whisper, as you slip two fingers down your throat,

over the toilet and feel the regret and sadness

flowing over your stone cold fingers.

You couldn't wait to tell your "friends"

"You're destroying yourself?"

"That's so cool," They'd say.

Except, no they won't because you won't tell them.

You are the wall.

No one converses with the wall.
