Specimen

January 8, 2015

My thoughts again are stormbound,

I accept what my heart denies.

I feel my doubts again arise,

and all my spark’s been nearly drowned.

Then just when I thought I’d run aground

you amaze me with your stranger eyes

and with all that fills those skies.

Like a butterfly aptly crowned

with a pin through its head

I’m fixed to a rigid wall.

But I watch you without a sound

and I can’t help but dread–

do you notice me at all?
