Ode To Coffee

June 16, 2015

Would you like sugar and cream?

You start to salivate from the exotic aroma

drifting throughout the bookstore.

Why bother asking, they know the answer.

It’s a drug! How dare you to be addicted

to burnt beans. You need it,

like you need oxygen to breathe.

The thick, beige liquid should not be so appealing,

and yet it is.

I need more, is all you can think,

as you drown down that smooth mocha.
