Love is Lost
The time is nigh
to wake up in the morning, high
Then come crashing down below
Soon you will remember, though
Your mind can be made astir
To keep the day all a blur
And find space to escape these tears
For when darkness falls
do arise the fears
In contemplating
of a query
in a worried head
Sorrow is not easily laid to bed
Upon waking may you find
a momentary
peace of mind
To begin it all again
Always seemingly devoid of end
Cyclical in nature
Robbing hearts of future
It fits best
to a test of courage
Save in a coward
is found rage
Merely a turning of a page
Perhaps
But inside its grasp
must we all collapse?
To arise once more
forgotten of its ill
Surely soon to come
upon a lapse of will
And in its circle
we shall dance
A serious illness it is
that we all chance
Why we believe we must endure
such a bittersweet cinder
ending in torture
A better way,
we ought to know,
to catch the wind
when it chooses to blow
But humble as we are, we fall
Overlooking that at once we were so tall
and could withstand a force so great
Alas we find it is too late
to keep outside the gate that which has been let in
So fall apart, we do
again
Shattering to bits on the ground
Our tears do make
such a breaking
sound
So deafening to ears around
In our despair
we begin to climb
up one stair
And then another, to reach the top
What we might uncover!
We mustn't stop
A lazy foot does catch
up on a lift
As quickly we stumble
and tumble
down again
Do we refrain from standing up?
I shall think not
Just as the rain falls down,
we are determined to go
another round
So we hold out our hand,
we lift up our cup,
waiting often in vain,
for it to be filled up
Ignorant of the crack
through which it all seeps
Blind to the space
through which it weeps
In this place it creeps and trickles out
Doomed we are
to face a drought
If only we knew what this is all about,
We could find a cure
beyond our fleeting lure
towards mind bending avenues
and alleys to which we flock
to pay our dues
So now I vow
to stay away
Knowing all the while
and all the better
my hand will again
be put to the fire someday.
