The day was ordinary. The sun shone upon me no brighter or darker than it does on a regular day. The wind caressed my face and pushed at my back no more gently or rough than it normally does. I was walking forward, reflecting back. Mirroring myself into my past, analyzing the trivial how’s and whys and where’s that compose my walk. My walk towards wherever I’m going. Towards whatever lies at the end of the sidewalk. I think about how I’m alone on this walk, on both walks. I think about how my only real partner has been my environment around me. I think about how any other person I know would enjoy company on a walk through their past, or at least their walk up to the sidewalk under my feet. Ordinarily I would’ve wanted the same thing. But today I realized I like being alone. I don’t like the feeling, I don’t like sharing it. But I like being alone. Mostly because it’s useful. I’m not able to go on these walks when I’m with someone else. I’m not able to take them with me on walks through my past. I’m not able to take them down the logical paths of why I do what I do. Around anyone I just do it. I walk down the sidewalk. I look around me at the sun, shining like it always does. I feel the warm breeze on me, whispering like it always does. What a beautiful da
