Splinter

August 7, 2015

You think you killed me but im still here

You may have splintered me into pieces but im healing

The process hurt but now i have nothing to fear

Im stronger now, though im still dealing

All you poisened devils whisper your lies

Threading your way into my life

Smiling while a part of me dies

But you will never have this soul, this life

Go ahead try again

You'll never have power over me

Im no longer lost in what could have been

I look towards what i can be

I let you in once and now i know my mistake

Ill be more careful this next time

I wont allow those in that hide their face, fake

Ill walk away, head held high this time

Try to screw me over and ill make sure

You regret the thought of even trying

You'll get whats coming to you be sure

While your down ill be the one flying

Change can be hard but its needed

I can feel the change inside me slow

This dark side this chaos has feeded

Comes from deep inside and below

Black and white they twine like ribbon

The colors of my soul they change

Ive taken these lessons ive been given

And lost myself to this change

Behind these bright eyes a demon smiles

To embrace this dark ive given it a piece of me

Some would say to let it in defiles

But those who dont know cant really see

That not all strength is something we are born with

This strength i have has been forged in the fires of disaster

Strength built and the price of baggage it comes with

The way of life im still struggling to master

Not everyone can grow while containing innocence of the dark side

Threading into my sense of self these life lessons learned earlier then most

To the unexperienced i cannot truely confide

So these memories remain inside haunting as my own ghost

One day maybe ill be able to finally heal and leave it all behind

Till then ill just keep breathing, all i have to do is just breath the rest will follow

In time i hope there will the peace that i seek to find

Some happiness to fill the part of me that i had kept hollow

These scars they heal, these splinters become whole

Ill keep my hope and dreams alive

The light will shine from within, from my soul

Ill have strength from my faith to take the dive

Ill use the dark to enhance the light

Balance all sides of me kept uneven

And keep hope within the line of my sight

The life of my dreams ahead and the shadowed past im leaving
