A part of me

March 12, 2019

It is a part of me

A part of me I love yet hate

It is a part of me

A part of me I fear yet elevate

A part of me

That gives me happiness yet pain

A part

Through which I lose sleep yet wisdom gain

A part of me called music.

I fear that which I do not know

The musician’s path, neglected, overgrown

I cannot see beyond its nearest bend

What lies beyond it?

A meadow or dead-end?

A part of me,

That understands a piano’s silvery keys

That part of me

Give tears, sweat and blood

Till my fingers listen to my mind with ease.

When mind, fingers, and sound intertwine

I lose my fear

 experience the divine

My tears taste sweet

My fear subsides

And then

Its gone.

Fear, doubt and Pain return

Stronger than before

But a part of me

Remembers and craves more.

That part of me is most afraid of all:

It fears not uncertainty, poverty or failure

But rather giving up.

That part of me through fear is brave.

It is a part of me

A part of me I love yet hate

It is a part of me

A part of me I fear yet elevate

A part of me

That gives me happiness yet pain

A part

Through which I lose sleep yet wisdom gain

A part of me called music.
