Never Forget

April 11, 2014

I didn’t think of you at first

I didn’t think of you at all really

You were just my goofy friend

But then slowly but surely.

Months passed and February 21st

And I just knew

I had started to fall

And I’m certain you had too

And so now here we are.

November, 63 days until my 18th birthday

And we love each other

We really do

But behind all that love I have for you there’s a deep sadness

Because Florida and Washington are so far away

And we both deserve a chance at a fresh start

We both deserve to live our lives our way

Without anything to hold us back

And I know we’ll stay friends, and I know we’ll see each other again

But I know I won’t get to hold your hand, or kiss you or hug you

I don’t believe in destiny

I believe you make your own destiny

But if I had one wish

At this very moment in time

I would wish that destiny were real

And that we were destined to find each other again

And fall right back in love

Because I’ve never felt such feeling when I looked at someone

And I’ve never had someone look at me with such feeling

And if we were 25

People would say that that kind of love is something to hold on to

But we’re not 25.

I’m not even 18 yet

And we will leave

And we will move on

And we will love again

Just not each other

But it won’t be the same love – of that I’m sure

Because I can’t imagine another love

That would make me go to sleep with a smile on my face

Or make me walk around with the biggest, dumbest grin on my face

But I know I’ll love again

And I hope with all my heart, that you find someone you can love, even more than me

Because you deserve that, you deserve to love and be loved in return

So wholly, and completely.
