If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

11 poems·Since May 2014

I am a poet and artist. I have a great appreciation for music and enjoy singing and playing ukulele. I believe art and music bring communities together. Currently, I am pursuing a psychology degree and hope I can apply that to helping people.

One that Ascends

May 19, 2014
I let the numbers
Pronounce themselves
I witness a whispered “three”
Come from careful lips
So, I let the days count themselves
They all tally up to one, there is only One
One to contain all eternity,
To hold the baggage of man’s time
He checks his watch
But, it eventually goes back to
1 am
He still can’t sleep
But, he checks again
soon realizing that
he cannot compete with time
He raises his fingers like matchsticks
and lights the strings
The exertion,
the friction,
the space in between
A fraction of a second
yet, that silence holds
all eternity
A black hole;
it absorbs this matter and
all that matters
in the minds of man; who
titles, his mind as matter
and his conscience his mind
But, soon all will be one
In unconfined territory,
Placed back to the second
Before time was created
In heaven,
time does not exist,
It is not a necessity
No…in heaven,
the word “necessity” has
no reign
Already set
He needs not wear a watch
His senses, remind him of
his feebleness everyday,
The succinct taste
of formless words
as we try
to use their unshaped water to
bring order
to an unrestrained world,
The universe is a
vacuum,
Every particle eventually consumed like
dust
Searching for an essence that leaves
a trail behind;
One that ascends,
the grasp of the mind
