I am Depression and a Daydream.

Childhood

January 25, 2015

The Spinning Top won’t Stop,
Round and Round it turns,
Red and Yellow Stripped,
Like the flowers in our yard.

Before the wind blew them away,
Before the people stepped on them,
Before the faces changed,
Before the rain came.

Now I can’t stop playing pretend,
And I refuse to remember why,
My mind won’t take me there,
Back to the darkness of the storm.

I remember when the glass broke,
I remember when the pieces fell,
I remember shattering onto the floor,
I remember, but I will not tell.
