Corridor of Shame

February 12, 2014

What I would change,

Is the Corridor of Shame.

With a fulfilled plan,

And, for them, no one can possibly quite understand.

Where schools get “minimally adequate” funding,

Sewage in the hallways continues running.

Where buildings and roofs cave in,

Insulated heat and cold cannot be expected to begin.

With diversity in temperature and where sewage continues,

Sickness and unsanitary conditions appear to be on the venue.

Absences come into the picture soon,

Students’ educations disappear with the sweep of a broom.

Let’s not forget the nineteen-forties emphasize the most updated version of books,

Blind to the current information, at which my classmates and I get to look.

The rush of new teachers with new ideas we have coming in

None of which they have impacting them.

You may ask why I care for the students in this area

Each of these things is a learning barrier.

I stand a future teacher today,

Wanting each student to be able to have a say

This is not only my future, but theirs to

Let me ask you, what is your point of view?

If you ask me, what I would do?

Funding, in these areas, is long overdue.
