The Shining Rose
August 14, 2018
You are a beautiful rose
In a garden full of thorns
Shining like a chandelier
Amidst all the little scorns
The other plants were jealous
They all wanted you to go
So they pretended to be your friend
Putting on a show
Then one day, you were stabbed in the back
A clean cut, all the way through
You were placed within a window
Hidden from their view
You’ve spent years upon that sill
You watch people come and go
You’re admired but you long to be
Where you first learned how to grow
