The Shore

September 19, 2013

The sun dips down behind the clouds

And disappears from sight.

The gradual darkness slowly spreads

And then begins the night.

With tired eyes and achy souls

We try to lay and rest

Our bodies slip into a snooze,

But, awake, our minds protest.

'There must be more! There must be more!'

Mumbles the madman in his sleep.

Like the moon above, his light stays on

His heart won't cease to weep.

This longing and this hunger's common--

Man truly wishes to roar

To daringly sail the wild sea

To adventure and explore!

Yet in this ocean they lose themselves

Lost more than before.

But somehow they make it back,

Back to the dark shore.

With the rising sun, their eyes open

And suddenly they see

The peace that life can offer them

If they are but carefree

They finally find their place in life.

Waves were meant to roar.

And man can find true happiness

By watching from the shore.
