If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

4 poems·Since October 2013

I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I love to read. Mostly I read classics. I don't really read a lot of books published recently like in the 2000 years, but anything in the 1900s and before are my friends. My favorite authors are Sylvia Plath, Charlotte Bronte, and Virginia Woolf. My favorite poet is Sylvia Plath. I also really like Dorothy Parker, Emily Dickinson, Anne Sexton, T.S. Eliot, and W.H. Auden. I really got started writing poetry when I discovered Sylvia Plath, and she really inspired me to write. I also write short stories. I'm the girl who reads and writes poetry.

The Flower

October 4, 2013
We all begin as white roses All that's known is happiness and innocence No pain or hurt is present But we are turned to flowers red as blood Weighted down with numbness and pain We can never go back to a white rose We are forever more red roses stained Our hearts wish to feel alive but there is nothing there It seems as if the world is covered with white roses And here I am red as scarlet Never getting redder but never getting whiter
