Humanity

July 29, 2016

I didn’t know that it was possible to hate the most beautiful thing in the world.

I didn’t know that I was a precious naïve little girl.

I didn’t know that warm loving hearts could eventually grow cold.

I didn’t know that the ones you loved would die when they grew old.

I didn’t know because I never believed what I was told.

I didn’t know that a smile could turn into a frown.

I didn’t know that, in a heartbeat, a life could be turned upside down.

I didn’t know that fiery disdain was an actually thing.

I didn’t know until I felt it for myself or how brutal tears sting.

I didn’t know that I could love so much but hate just the same.

I didn’t know that death, all along, was and still is calling my name.

I didn’t know that I was flawed from the start.

I didn’t know that in order to live I had to break a part.

I didn’t know.

I never wanted to.

But like everything else, I am a part of it.

Just like you.
