If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

18 poems·Since April 2014

Well, I'm a musician, photographer, scholar, and wannabe poet. As I write more, I think I'm more of a minimalist and open-ended poet. Some things I write not even I get, but have fun reading them!

The Hand of Words

April 15, 2014

(Dedicated to Timothy Samalik and Mikki Wymer.)

Click. Pause. Scroll. Done.

What a rush! Such heart!

I think I'll read another.

Click. Pause. Done.

Its not a masterpiece of wit,

But I admire his transparency,

Her light-heartedness.

Another!

Scroll. Pause. Scroll. Done.

Scroll. Click. Scroll...

... Step. Step. Pause.

And in that verse, In that poem,

I met someone.

They reached out a hand of language,

Invited me into their world

To show me

Beauty

Hatred

Confusion

Hope

War

Daily life

Persistance

Hope

The deepest depths of despair

The pinnacle of enlightened thought

I took their hand, made of nought but words,

And followed it down the rabbit hole

With nought but an open heart.

Step. Step. Scroll. Scroll. Done.

Nice meeting you!

Thank you for being so open!

I'll be sure to visit again,

To a space that never forgets.
