If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

435 poems·Since May 2014

I'm a Grad student now studying Biochemistry and Biophysics (not sure how I got there). I guess I've been using this site for nearly 8 years now though sometimes I went years without writing much of anything. I write what I feel and I write what I need to let go of. Sometimes I write about a dream or a nightmare I had, If I can tell the difference. I fell in love for poetry in high school and continued to write in college. I hope to publish a book someday as well (leave a comment if a poem speaks to you). P.S. My Instagram is @CottonCandyPoems

Truth in Love

May 29, 2014

Love is like a tornado of stress constantly wondering if they love you back but I tell you this and I speak the truth love can give hope like a flag in the ashes of a city and a light at the end of a tunnel.
A crush is a terrible path to travel questioning the thoughts of your secret lover but a crush Is called a crush because that is how you feel when you aren't loved back.
A boy scans the hall looking for love but there is none to be found leaving his face in an unending frown he does not care where the love is from and he does not care how she looks in the sun. He only loves the heart that is beating and the love for her that she has seeded. For before this moment he felt unloved for who would love this fat, ugly, slob.
Well I tell you this and you better remember that beauty does not matter to a loving member true happiness comes from within and those who realize that actually win the race of life to find happiness and live life with love in everlasting bliss.
Ugly is an opinion that describes ones idea that to be attractive you have to look like everyone else but I AM NOT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE and nor will I ever be, but that's okay I'm fine with that when god designed my body he made no mistakes I was made to be this way and those who deny it must be fools but to god and to me my true beauty rules.
Fat is a fact that I have accepted but I do not mind though people have attempted to crush me to break me with unending words but to be honest words do hurt I will not lie I am left scarred by words left behind they float through my head taunting me always but I proudly walk throughout these hallways I do not care about my size or my shape that is just silly why would I anyway I am handsome to god and to me but that is not what evil people see.
I live with these conflicts everyday but there is a way to brighten my day when I am down and nothing seems right I have poetry through which I can fight I would do anything to have a true love to be told that I'm not dumb for thinking these thoughts but I may never feel the feelings I yearn for but I found a way I opened a door the poetry I write and I read has become a true love for me.
