If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

435 poems·Since May 2014

I'm a Grad student now studying Biochemistry and Biophysics (not sure how I got there). I guess I've been using this site for nearly 8 years now though sometimes I went years without writing much of anything. I write what I feel and I write what I need to let go of. Sometimes I write about a dream or a nightmare I had, If I can tell the difference. I fell in love for poetry in high school and continued to write in college. I hope to publish a book someday as well (leave a comment if a poem speaks to you). P.S. My Instagram is @CottonCandyPoems

Let Today Be A Reminder

May 29, 2014

Let today be a reminder that your still alive and that in your duties you will strive to be a good person no matter the cost and that you have more than what others have lost. Let today be a reminder that god is still with you and though others have nothing your blessed its true and the people around you who are in need and through your service you can lead. Let today be a reminder that you still have a home while through the streets poor people roam, wile your tucked in bed falling asleep curled in a corner a sad child weeps, all alone with no where to go and after all this you simply say SO?
Let today be a reminder that you can help out it may not be much but they could just shout they are so happy to have items shared in a time they believed that no one cared.
Let today be a reminder that today is a gift it is called the present and it is meant to lift to lift the hopes of those still in need and to the hungry whom we can feed the happiness made is nothing to miss let today be a simple reminder of this.
