Answer Me

September 16, 2017
It's starting to seem as if I am white enough to survive but too black to be pleasing to the eye A wild animal from first glance, but a caged bird by my vernacular Thrown a bone because I can speak, resented because I am not weak Accepted due to how I dress, yet still not worthy of a life free of stress I don't call what I am alive because all I do is survive Seems that being alive will only begin when I can hide my melanin, My melanin seems to be a deadly narcotic that the supremacist DEA, also known as the KKK Wants to eradicate from this world. Wants to cleanse from their eyes, to purge rather than let hide, to slaughter not just let die But what can I do, I'm proud of brown skin, I'm black and I'm proud, why is that such a sin?
