If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

12 poems·Since November 2014

At a young age I lost the only person I truly had a connection with, this caused me to retreat within myself. I clung to Edgar Allen Poe. It is because of him and my connection to poetry that I am here today.

Why Try

November 14, 2014

I try but I cry

On the inside I slowly die

Yet on the outside I am still alive

Would you not have guessed that I am depressed

had I not been blunt and pulled that stunt

Slowly I die, no longer able to deny it

then you would just cry because of what I did

That is not the same, I try not to blame.

But it is a shame that all the pain cannot be explained.

The pain can only be heard by those who wish to hear

about why the tear does not go away

It stays and haunts me

about all the graves it sees and pain it holds

No matter what I say or how much I pray

I’ll always have the burden of what once was there

Not a thing will ever repair

All the damage and despair

No matter how much I cry

No matter how black my sky

I could try but why?

So I can cry or die?

I’d rather lie than for me to try

to change what can’t be changed.

My life can’t be rearranged.

I can’t be given back what was taken,

unless my life is forsaken.
