The New Standard
My story starts on its own path,
Completely different and special to me,
Eventhough I was one of many born that day,
I am unique and that's all I aspire to be.
I can never be someone I'm not,
I am designed to be my own grade,
Created to be distinct and bring my own light,
Not to live according to what someone else made.
So when someone tells me I'm not smart enough,
Or they tell me that I'm not the right size,
They're forcing their own rules on me,
And pumping my head full of lies.
Truth is, words can hurt,
And words can easily become criticism,
Setting the bar that I'm "supposed" to live up to,
Becoming a destructive and hurtful mechanism.
I have my very own standard,
I'm completley unique, myself alone,
So if there was one thing I could change,
It would be that everyone could let their heart be shown.
