Paul J Colon

If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

15 poems·Since January 2014

My name is Paul J, hailing out of Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 2006, I finished up my technical training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, graduating as an Honor Grad so that was exciting. Yeah,I was fresh out of basic training and tech school. My first assignment was in Idaho but a drastic change happened in my life and that's all a distant memory. I am basically hoping to meet new people and still keep in touch with old friends. I really don't know what else to say....feel free to ask me anything. Writing has always been my passion, and i have a few pen names that i have created to write freely without worry of people judging me - well, in my teenage years. And now they just stuck. I like to write poetry and prose, and also have a passion for photography, drawing, music. Let's just say that i am artistically inclined. I am interested in making new friends and sharing ideas with other bards. I want to meet people i can relate to on a "shop" and interest level. They don't necessarily have to cross over or anything. i have no real preference when it comes to meeting people. I am a real people-person, having served in the USAF. Male or Female, whatever background, i don't mind. all are welcome. ***ALSO*** please comment on my works - feedback is highly recommended/appreciated

I feel compelled to look on
But I want to be somewhere other than your line of sight
Been down that route once before...
And as i crumbled, you only watched me fall

Life passes you by when you move so quickly...
But can't you just leave me far behind?
As much as you want to deny it, you still keep me close
It's obvious when you pursue me as i push you away

Is it too much to ask? I don't want to be near you
I'm not talking for obvious reasons...
So why must you still haunt my every thought?
My body aches...but it's for the best

Faith is goin' nowhere near you
So take it home where safety's endearin'
And i will go away knowin' that I've rubbed shoulders
Without trust in mind...

Stop trying to act like it's ok
I don't like you, no, I don't like you
And i never will
So run and hide, tear yourself up

I'll start again with a brand new name
And by eyes that see into infinity
My message will be read clear
And you will disappear

How can you sit there and act like you care?
Did you not tell me that i was wasting your time,
Saying my problems were so trivial in all the harshest terms?
You distance yourself from me, so fine, be on your way

Yet now, as i acknowledge your hurtful gestures,
Why won't you let me move on?
Do you think your gaze will wash away the pain?
But I'm now immune to your pheromones.

In so many words...
Just saying in so many words...
In the simplest terms,
Let me live my life without you in it

Everything you touch turns to shit
You suck the beauty out of life and absorb it
Outside you may be beautiful,
But that stolen beauty won't hide how you're composed of venom

Faith is goin' nowhere near you
So take it home where safety's endearin'
And i will go away knowin' that I've rubbed shoulders
Without trust in mind...

Stop trying to act like it's ok
I don't like you, no, I don't like you
And i never will
So run and hide, tear yourself up

I'll start again with a brand new name
And by eyes that see into infinity
My message will be read clear
And you will disappear
