THANK YOU FOR MY PALACE

October 4, 2019

Thanks to you I had time

But I had no time with you

The moments you were gone I got to spend with myself

But of course I would have made time too

Those times I spent learning

But couldn’t quite find the truth

It could have made me really happy,

just to be with you

But you see

It never worked out like that

Your gift gave me some direction

But it was I who chose my destination

Rather,

I'm building it right now

But instead of leaving me alone

You always come back around,

you have laid claim to my work and tried to tear it down

But this palace I built by myself

While you focused on your someone else

But the journey wasn’t lonely

The opposite really

But when the loneliness does come

It leaves too,

just like you

But it was you who inspired me to build

And all I can feel is thankful

For what you put me and my family through

For in my palace there is no hate

The very thing that clouds my memory of you

Only love persists

And the birds and bells have a blissful ring

So if you one day decide to open your heart

I will open my doors too

So that I can finally spend time with the one

Who somehow pushed me through

And it will be my thank you
