If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

2 poems·Since October 2017

Hello! I've always been interested in poetry, but never mustered up the courage to write it. Right now, I'm taking a class that focuses heavily on poetry, so I hope to share some of my work here soon. Critique and comments welcome. Thank you for visiting.

The Difference

November 8, 2017

I.

Blood is thicker than water.

Therefore:

Home is a four-lettered vacancy

transient

strangers suspended

in negative space.

Discourse steeped in bitterness

and the acrid aftertaste

fetter my heart, mechanical.

And I say this because I love you.

II.

Water is thinner than blood.

Yet,

Hope is born in promise

tangible and true

a thousand splendid suns

eclipsed by your warmth.

Secrets in blanket nest cocoons,

simple as chicken soup comfort,

soften my heart, reciprocal.

And I say this because I love you.
