Remember

May 22, 2019
1 It's been 12 months and i’ve taken my first steps
Little did I know each one meant something
2 I was terrible to know right from wrong and wrong from right
Then came left
3 Every night mommy and daddy would tuck me in tight
Scared away the monster and kiss me goodnight
4 Was double the trouble
5 I learned to be humble
Then 6
7
8
Finally,
I turned 9
I was asked who I wanted to be not what I wanted to be
I was told to follow in your footsteps all the time
Which lead me to your dreams not mine
10 Big number Big expectations and it's all depended on me
11 I wished every night that you could see how much I was trying
to show you what I could be
12 I finally realized my dream were slowly dying
13 felt grown up no longer a pre teen but you seen me not as your spittin image
But a chance to finish what you started
Not once did you think it was cold hearted

14 depression knew my name
Being who you want me to be is the blame
Never asked if i felt the same
Always assumed my dreams were lame

15 I wanted to be the one that made you proud
All my life i've cried out loud
But I was just a show to your crowd
16 I never knew how to speak because you were always my voice
I never knew what freedom was or to have my own choice
17 All i wanted was
But to you i was never enough
So i learned to be tuff

18 Quitting was a joke never was the answer
Till i learned how to smoke
It not only blew away my stress
But it helped me pass the test
19 I finally did it
I walked 5 thousand miles just for you to smile and see me in that cap and gown
I promised i wouldn't let you down
20
I'm all grown up.
I came to realize i'll never be who you want me to be
But ima be who i wanna be for me
I'll never be big enough to pay your dues
But I tried and earned bruises
And you'll never realize how much i was trying
The only person i was lying to was myself
Anxiety took over depression
I met him when I was Ten
All I wanted is for you to be proud
But my voice was never allowed

12 Months back again
21 feels like a win
I got a vision that no one else can see
She looks up to me and ask how i did it
How did I become me I said
To remember who you are you need to forget what they told you to be
