Winter Date

September 1, 2014

My love where have you gone?

You left my Christmas bland and brown.

I hear that you’ve gone up north

To visit a girl in another town.

These late spring chills aren’t enough

I want to see rain turn to ice!

I want to see my breath like dragons smoke,

Or even a degree below forty would be nice.

Yet you leave me standing here

Waiting for some odd miracle;

I’ve found that you my dear

Are just a tad bit cynical.

You make promises you cannot keep

And make many mischievous lies,

You cast great snowstorms for the news

Yet as you do you’re breaking ties.

Oh winter, Jack Frost, I’ll always want you

Yet I suppose it’s just not my turn.

You’ll see those northern girls are lame

And realize I’m the one you yearn.
