about the sound of the rain hitting

the roof with solid pop-pop beats,

as if knocking, luring her out.

She blooms with the storm clouds,

throwing open her alabaster arms

and catching the elusive rain in

her soft hands like catching kisses.

Thunder blasts her heart into being

and lightning electrifies her blood.

There is some chaotic tranquility

about her hair       f

in the wind.

The sun returns to its self-made

throne, lurched in the pit of the sky,

and she returns to her empty house

to retreat on to the cold dark floor.
