The Shadow

December 19, 2015

What is the life of the shadow

That clings to our feet like children,

That with us everywhere, they follow

Till time brings end to all men?

What is the life of the shadow

That holds on dearly to walls?

They stay so very quietly, so very still,

Till all around them the empire falls.

Do dreams of life and love haunt the shadow

That knows love and life naught?

Do they know what it's like to cry and feel pain,

Or is it just those who hide in them, and the wars that they fought?
