Him

He didn’t understand That I was waiting for him, Waiting for him to come back, And I didn’t understand That he was already gone. He was in some far away place Out of my sight, But not out of my mind. Of course he wasn’t out of my mind. He was the only thought in my mind For the longest time. He was my every breath. He was my heartfelt sigh. He was everything I was, And he was everything I wanted to be. He was my reason for living, Yet he was the reason I wanted to die Because he was among the dead, And I wanted to follow him everywhere. But I knew he wouldn’t approve, So I waited, Biding my time. Waiting, Waiting to hear him calling my name From some distant place So that I could be with him again.
