Silent Voicemail

July 2, 2014

Is anyone on the other side of this silent phone call?

Anticipation stirs even the seventh time I dailed your number.

My hope returns when I hear your voice and drops when I hear the pause in the same word.

No one can stutter the same way on the same word.

My urgency is refused time and time again by your silent end of the phone call.

How I wish this was about my significant other rather than the financial aid office.

Forever lending full rides to students who dont want to return,

but ignoring the person who is struggling to return to their dream school.

What more can I do

to not get a silent phine call.
