Changing of year to self

October 27, 2017

All of my life,

Who I am,

Who I aspire to be,

the beasts inside of me,

always seem to break free

the endless torment,

with its binding lease,

its self proclaimed control,

had to, in my eyes; cease

The expanse of time,

that has been this last year,

Said goodbye to many things I held dear,

but through the smoky toll,

the clouds of fear,

gave me a new direction to steer

The new lens over my eye,

unlocks the further door,

with a greater prize in store,

moving my mind from the floor,

The mere challenge of time,

for me is lessened in rhyme,

but held within the worth of a dime,

as I’ve found,

I can’t wait for my feet,

to leave the ground,

nor an hour,

to withhold from eating the treat.
