Trianna Carroll

If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

2 poems·Since January 2016

I'm a high school Junior and a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, but words and expression are what I'm all about. I've been writing and telling stories ever since I remember. Which, considering my memory is truly unreliable wouldn't actually be long, so let's say before that even. I hope my little random thoughts and expressions make others feel something, because that's the true purpose of art, at least I would say it is.

The Secret of Words

January 23, 2016

Have you ever stopped, tasted a word?

Let it roll off your tongue,

Savored the crisp cleanness;

The satisfaction of a word

That fits perfectly?

Do you get the fulfillment a word can bring

When it expresses everything you wanted to say,

Expresses you

Just right?

For me, it's the sweetest of joys:

A small victory to find the right word

In a world of greys and so much wrong.

Words are my best friends,

My everlasting companions.

Those ancient sages that teach me

The magic of the right word.

Are my most treasured possesions

Though these books may seem dull and incessant,

Full of the extinct, and treasures too identical

To be of any interest in this world of today

To anyone-

And certainly not to the many

Who would carelessly pass these spell books by.

Oh, well-

It's their loss, their own nescience

That leaves the secret of words, of their magic,

For me.
