ANGUISH

January 11, 2020

She piles on the hurts, the stones she’s keenly thrown.
Precise her aim should wounding be deepest.

Satisfied her stab was lethal; She recoils
in silence to savor petty victories.

Poised again to hurl ever more deadly words,
Cutting and stinging that I should bleed again.
Longer each delay, my broken heart returns once more.
In swirls of dread and panicked hope she’ll

speak through love this day! Dashed again my dearest,
deepest, dream. Dark death covers me in silence.
I cannot speak, my somber, sullen gait
a labored, ghostly lumber, an uninspired

state. Shrouded in uncertainty,
restlessly I wait. For the courage once again to heave
myself unto her words, and resign me to
an unknown fate. Will renewal golden for
me shine. Or heartache’s burdened loss color time.
