Your Truths

September 17, 2017

I know when you miss me so;

Your dimples show when you smile

As you hug me—hold me close.

I know the secrets of your skin;

Every gasp and shudder, and wince

From the scars kept deep within.

I know when to listen and understand;

Shoulders bent from this world,

Too heavy for just one man.

I know when to pop the corn;

After a long day of work,

We can snuggle ‘till the morn.

I know when to say no and when to say yes;

When you’re swept under by desire

And plead for a rash request.

I know when to push on Monday;

Sleepy in your arms but having to go

Even though we long to stay.

I know when to hold on and when to let go;

Comfort you from the world,

Or watch you grow.

I know how hard you try in this world of ours.

I know our dream to stay awhile.

My soulmate, my friend—

I know your truths,

Because I love you.
