The True Monsters

September 1, 2014

In the chilling presence of deaths embrace
The good and the bad of your life you'll face
Spending your life at the bottom of a bottle
Trying to find yourself, trying to fake a smile
Remembering stories of demons and monsters
Hearing distant sounds of a child's laughter
Always telling yourself that they are all lies
Only to find out the true monsters are us in disguise
We cheat, lie, fight, and kill
Always forcing others to bend to our own will
We siphon out all our dear planets resources
Just to further all our wars and our forces
We push, kill, argue, and fight
War after war rage on and on With no end in sight
We cause global warming and ozone destruction
But our worst worries are how to get around this construction
Man is its own nightmare
A malevolence within us all waiting inside with an evil sneer
