Bricks

January 28, 2020

You're laying bricks on my chest

I'm wearing them like a bulletproof vest

I'm trying to breathe but my lungs feel like concrete

My heart rate drops and there's barely a heartbeat

But here I stay as you build your house upon me

The weight is overbearing and I'm going insane

I'd suffer forever if it's you that I gain

You built your house and now you want to sell out

I thought you'd stay but this house is so warn out

There's nothing special about this house anymore

You got bored and started ripping out the floors

And as the house crumbles the only thing left is the doors.

Because I'll always let you in

Even when you break my heart over and over, again and again.
