Ship of Captivity
May 16, 2018
The ocean sounded as if we were drowning
Trapped on a boat where the fish are visible to see.
One by one I began the counting
Of the bodies pressed together on the voyage across the sea.
Laughter echoed from the top floor
Bitter liquid seeped it’s way through the soggy board.
Touched my lips and I shrieked
But it was you that pointed out the dead bodies heaped.
Trying my best to look up at you
Though as if being transparent I just knew.
The pounding in my chest came at ease
Once I felt that same gentle squeeze.
