Why I Write

June 29, 2013

It all started

with Charlotte's Web

and, "Daddy, let me try!"

I traveled to Hogwarts,

and France,

and got lost at sea.

I was best friends with Huckleberry Finn,

and Jim Hawkins,

and Frodo Baggins.

I soaked up the words

through my fingertips

and my bones.

They rid the blood from my body

replacing it with syllables

and sounds.

They wrapped around my soul

begging,

aching to get out.

Slowly they escape

in the form of stories

and poems,

Arching their backs off the paper

begging to be

absorbed by someone new.
