The Compass

January 4, 2017
We are born lost, pure
Waiting for someone to open the door
To adventure.
You lead,
And I follow.
Through it all, though.
Through the mud
And the leaves
Through the flood
And the trees
Through the rays of the sun
Until we are one.
Mother and daughter
Like Lewis and Clark
You never forgot her
Even when the sky grew dark.
You lit the way
As a distant star
That guided the stray
In her memoir.
