5:15

October 23, 2017

It's 5 in the evening

At the 15, my mom will be calling

With all the love in the world, she'll want to keep me

keep me speaking

keep me believing

keep me being

Yet, 5:16 comes around

And like a hound,

I walk towards the sound

yet all is silent

I wonder why

So with a sigh, I call my mom

Yet no one answers

No one speaks

No one keeps me believing

No one is there saying I need to be being

So with that sigh

I go lie down

It's 7 in the morning

At the 15, my mom will be calling

With all the love in the world, she'll want to keep me

keep me speaking

keep me believing

keep me being

Yet, 7:16 comes around

In confusion, I feel some delusion

I send a text

a lonely text

And no one answers

No one speaks the words she says each week

So in confusion

I go on with my allusion

It's 5 in the evening

at the 15, someone is calling!

With relief,

I jump to my feet

I run to the phone

Yet I find myself alone

As I listen to the words,

I hear no one

For I am alone

You see

My mom won't be calling

She's not speaking

She's not believing

She's not being

Where's my mom believing?

My life, my father's wife

She won't be calling

I still hear her say

my dear

You will never cease to be my life

my son believing
