Masks

Hiding the thoughts From prying eyes Trying to live Yet trying to die The hope for others Still hopeless himself He cannot win With the cards he's dealt But change is his ally Companion and friend Hopes to be cleansed of The "unforgivable" sin Being the hero And keeping the peace Is all he can do, for Time does not cease Alone he grows up Friendless, in pain Bearing their burdens Their guilt and their shame He grows far beyond The limits they've set He works so hard He's not there yet He is their savior The hero of all But they do not see So a monster he's called.
