Pearl

January 5, 2014

I sit at the bottom of the ocean

Waiting to be found

When I get swept into an oyster

And swirl around like a clown

I settle inside

This strange dark place

With nothing to do

Except sit and wait

I feel trapped and alone

For no one else is around

I just sit here and sit here

Feeling like I’ll drown

The darkness closes in on me

I wonder if I’ll ever get out

The walls slowly come down on top of me

There is no way out

So I’m grounded at the bottom of the ocean

With nothing to do

Except wait and be transformed

Into something brand spanking new

I slowly start changing

Into something beautiful

I am no longer a grain of sand

I am now something wonderful

I now feel like new

No longer trapped

For when someone finds me

I’ll have nothing to lack

I am more than a grain of sand

Even though I sat in darkness

I am still important

And I deserve to be noticed.
