Somewhere on a Different World

April 18, 2013
You would never think of stars Those tiny, inconsequential lights in the night sky You would never believe our sun Is exactly like those white lights Its golden rays shining on your face The burn on your shoulders Caused by those tiny blips But somewhere on a different world The universe too big an area To not have other life, like you would think Something is out there, watching waiting Their star burned out Also looking for other inhabitable planets Constructing their own plan Using their own mathematics, equations Thinking, pondering, wondering about us If there’s life out in the universe But somewhere on a different world ‘Touchdown, we have confirmed life forms’ You look out the shuttle windows, waking up You’ve seen pictures of this, of the life here But it just seemed too far, too out of reach But you can reach out and touch it, its real, and its here Touch the alien dirt, Breed the alien plants, Make friend with the natives, ignorant Unaware of the changes they went through for you But somewhere on a different world There’s no way of telling, though What life lies out there? We just can’t know with our sheltered minds There’s life out there But somewhere on a different world
