Dear you

January 26, 2018

When we first met you were just you.

You were kind to me

Never too close

But I’ve never been one to have friends.

It wasn’t until later I found out

That you

Had self worth issues.

You were a little glum

But I enjoyed it

Because of your honesty.

When we were first friends you had some insecurity

You were a little down

But who isn’t?

It’s normal to be a little depressed anymore.

It wasn’t until I knew I loved you I found out

That you

Were actually clinically depressed.

You were depressed

But I still cared for you

Because we were us.

When we finally found who we were

To each other

And to ourselves

You were hurting and needed help

But I was always there

And I could deal.

It wasn’t until you checked into the hospital

That I knew

Just how much you were hurting.

And how much this was hurting me.

And so we are stuck

You are afraid to hurt me

I’m afraid to hurt you

Eggshells

Broken glass

Laying on the floor

Tiptoes

Why can’t we just be honest with each other

And skip the hesitation?
