If you don't learn to write your own story, someone else will write it for you

5 poems·Since June 2013

I like to think I am very creative, but it is a fact that I am odd. I have moved around a lot, but am from the south. I love a good book and am glued to poetry (particularly early American, Russian, and British). I am also a (amateur) novelist who strives to one day be published.

Keepsake

February 12, 2015

My spoken word count is low.

My thoughts are unmeasured.

With the words I haven't spoken,

it scares me to think they will never be heard.

So I can't speak.

My thoughts are my unshared masterpeices.

These are things I wish to share with people.

But the ears of strangers are cold as a marble floor.

When they are somehow spoken, the meet the feet of another.

I keep my head down

words locked in my mind.

My spoken word count is low,

those words I have spoken are mostly from anger.

My thoughts are unmeasured,

because people don't care for courtesy,

they ease out of you the undesirable attitudes;

anger, fear, depression

because it gives them reason to ignore.

How do you change that?

Make your spoken word count high.
