Empty Hands

January 9, 2017

   When I had nothing,

    I ate nothing.

I had told myself I lost everything,

so, that's what i had done.

I took my hands and pushed,

   pushed away people, food.

  The growl of hunger,

  so dominant.

Though it was the very thing I could control.

As if my hands did not know how to stop,

Better yet, they didn't want to.

Pounds shed and so did my friends.

Sickly thin fingers wipe away tears.

The gap between my thighs would never surpass the one in my heart.

"Why aren't I thin?"  a continuous chorus in my mind.

Overworked, unfed, and lonely hands sign stop.

The first thing had never been so good.

   Today my hand waves,

    goodbye anorexia,

    hello health and happiness.
