Innocence is short.Especially when

January 28, 2014

Innocence is short.

Especially when the one

who is supposed to nuture and protect you,

is the one beating you.

Seven Years.

Seven Years is how long I waited to be rescued

Seven Years is how long I waited to be saved

From the blood, and the aches, and the brokenness.

Seven Years for that innocence to be taken away from me.

So you ask me why I'm bitter

And have troubles trusting your love.

But if you had innocence stripped away as a child

by a dead beat mother,

I'd like to see you rise triumphant from that.
