When I observe the night

I see lost and searching souls,

People looking for the difference

Between lightbulbs and coals.

When I sit alone and think

About the moths and butterflies,

I cannot tell the difference;

We all dawn the same disguise.

We all seek out that same light,

We all stumble about blind.

That's no way to fall in love;

First forget to charge your mind.

I am an owl in a tree,

I am quiet with the stars.

I fly away from the noise,

Of people trading flesh for scars.

I am a watcher of the old -

My head spins at the sight

Of the religion that occurs

When I observe the lovers' night.
